 Stew Richland

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Century Village and all our residents around the globe.

The Man With a Thousand Faces

Had a great time at the New Years party at the Club House.   Everyone seemed to be having a hot time, and not from the fact that the air conditioning was not working.  Referring to the new year, Oprah Winfrey observed, “Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”  When  the residents of Century Village, elect  Phyllis Richland, as the new UCO President in March 2016, we in the Village will finally get it right.

Trust is a terrible thing to waste.  When Dave Israel entered the race for president,  he knew that, because  he is so knowledgeable about UCO history,   the president was term limited.  He knew that this was part of the UCO bylaws and every president accepted that restriction when they ran for office.  Now Mr. Israel is attempting to become  a four term president.  When you play by the rules, it’s a reflection of your integrity and honesty.   What we have to understand here is when people break the rules,  traditions and expectations that the UCO By-Laws have put on us,  they lose real meaning and steal the faith that we have in them.   That is exactly what is happening now in Century Village We have to be very cautious of people who accept the rules and then break them, this is what we mean by deception.  From deception we begin to see manipulation.  When UCO and WPRF agreed to exempt political activity from the club house and pool areas,  this was pure deception and raw manipulation because Mr. Israel wanted to eliminate any competition on his control of  UCO.

Last night I watched a silent film starring Lon Chaney, “the man of a thousand faces.”  It was fascinating to watch him change his persona to match each character he played.  Well here in Century Village we have a modern man of a “thousand schemes.”
No one who knows Mr. Israel,  really believes his lame excuse, which he identified as sacrilegious,   when he informed the County Code enforcement about the campaign banner that Phyllis Richland placed on the synagogue fence on Haverhill Rd.  What all demagogues  scheme to accomplish  is to eliminate all threats to their authority as quickly as possible.  Inform the County, Snipe Banner on Haverhill Road.  The Committee to  Elect Phyllis Richland, contacted  County enforcement,   set up a meeting, and was told that a complaint was registered with their enforcement section.  We asked, “who registered the complaint?”  There were two forms, one had the complainant’s name as  Peyton Israel,  and the other had David Israel’s name on it.  Mr. Lanny Howe, your “skinny” on the document is to thin to read.  I was given a copy of two documents from   County enforcement,  on the line marked complainant there was the name Peyton Israel.  The other document we know had David Israel’s name on it.  What the real “skinny” here is that our UCO President,  who wears the “Mask of Dimitrois,  attempts in this melodrama  to dignify  his act by labeling the banner sacrilegious.  The real “skinny” here is that he feared competition by Phyllis Richland  in the up-coming race for UCO President .   By the way, Mr. Howe,  do you recall.  if in the past 6 years of this administration,  our President referring to posters placed on bulletin boards, as “pollution?”  Why now?  Yes, you are right!  Eliminate the competition.
This my second and last attempt to clarify this issue.  So on this issue I have made a New Year's Resolution: “To tolerate fools more gladly, provided this does not encourage them to take up more of my time.”
